Leading up to the 40th Akron Antiquarian Book & Paper Fair in early April, the February Forum (this Thursday the 26th at 7pm), is celebrating the upcoming 40th Fair as well as the Founder Frank Klein's, what would be, 100th birthday. To tell the origin story of NOBS several folks who were part of this story will be reminiscing about Frank Klein's life as owner of The Bookseller in Akron, OH and NOBS beginnings. We are hoping that there are several others out there who also will share some memories. This will be a totally virtual forum, via Zoom, link can be found on the NOBS homepage (nobsbooks.org). Hope to see some of you there.

Let’s support the open shop we still have!

We would like to thank you for your continued support and your positive words of encouragement since we’ve taken over the store. We absolutely love owning Snowball! I would like to address one question that we get multiple times a day. Do you take donations? The answer is yes, but NOT the majority of them. We feel terrible when people haul in huge boxes of books to drop off and we don’t take them. I feel bad for my employees because many people get angry and are unkind. We do not have room in the building to put anymore boxes of books. We understand that the previous owner took all donations, but it left the store with an overwhelming amount of inventory that does not move. We cannot take another old gardening book, cookbook, diet book, or mass market paperback. We are overloaded with books that people do not want and they’re trying to find a place to get rid of them. We’ve spent several months trying to organize the store, bring in brand new books and more current “previously loved” books. As we move forward, we’re going to post every other month or so the type of inventory that we could use your help with. That way you know what we will take. We have had so many amazing donations since we have been here and appreciate them so much. Thank you.

Attention local bibliophiles: since we don't have a Forum this month, consider attending this lecture at Kelvin Smith Library on Tuesday, April 22, at 4:00 PM. Rebecca Romney is a great speaker, and her book is excellent, so this talk is sure to be interesting and engaging. The event is free, but registration is required: https://community.case.edu/ksl/rsvp_boot?id=2264576

Nice article to read this evening waiting for election results.

"Yesterday (Monday) would have been my mom's birthday. I wrote this in recognition that I'm just beginning to appreciate all that she gave me. Because of her, old books and great writing, turbulent times seem a lot more manageable," writes Capital Journal Reporter Marty Schladen.
