What an interesting flashback of Downtown Adrian! Check out Lenawee Historical Society for more!
Even though Sears (and Roebuck) began as a nationwide mail order outlet in 1886 and had full fledged department stores by 1925, they didn't establish business in Adrian until much later. Pictured is the grand opening of the Sears catalogue sales office at 136 N. Main in 1956. (now a part of Copeland Furniture) In the 60s the store moved to Toledo St near Broad and finally in 1970 Sears became a magnet department store in the Adrian Mall.
