Hey colorful friends! 🌈🤩

I had a serendipitous moment this morning when I walked into the shop today and I saw I had these ice dye samples right next to my open book of Helen Frankenthaler’s paintings. ⚡️

I picked up the book at my local library the other day, and something told me I should have a good look while I was taking a break from shop stuff. 🎨

(How does art talk to you?? Books are my spiritual love language.✨)

Here’s a cute quilt pattern I whittled down for an adorable throw pillow you can make in a fraction of the time. ⚡️

I wanted to feature the mod summery beach vibe of ’s Poolside Too, and grabbed:

✨ a mini charm pack 🏝️
✨ white strips from a jelly roll I had lying around
✨ coordinating fabric for 1) backing and 2) binding, and
✨ pillow insert from IKEA

I used the free Undulating Vibes quilt pattern from which fit the mood perfectly, made a scrummy iced tea (it was hot out), and got myself to work.

Working with color is the best. Sometimes when you’re slogging through—I mean working on—a large quilt project, I like to give myself a reprieve and have a relatively quick but rewarding project that’s pure fun. 🌈

This one fit the bill perfectly! ☀️🍹💖

Now back to the other quilts…

New arrivals that bring me joy!! 💖

Things that light me up are not always the craziest colors (which to be fair is always true), or the brightest shades. 🌈

Fabrics with elegant style, artfulness, beautiful feel, thoughtful design, and wonderful energy also give us inspiration.

Not simply for what we can make, but for how we will feel, and who we will be, when we inhabit and live with the things we create.

One of the reasons I opened the Fab Lab was to create a more intentional wardrobe, so it’s very cool to see some new garment fabrics flowing into the shop!

Perhaps joy is a lifestyle?

I love sourcing joyful things: we all need more beauty and inspiration and resonance in our lives!

We’ve been planning this workshop for months, and now it’s finally here! 🌈🙌

Our creative crafty maven Cynthia at is leading Ice Dye workshops on Saturday, May 30th!

You will learn how to use the most gorgeous colors to dye your own (adorbs) ruffle tote and kitchen towel.

Plus, have an amazing time feasting your eyes on luscious colors, get yours hands dirty with some art-making, and maybe even make some new friends. 💖

Wellllll, our shop is getting more colorful and joyful every day! And it’s going to be a gorgeous weekend: yay for spring! 🌈

Just landed in the shop: Poolside Too from , Sunshine by Sally Kelly at , new batiks, the prettiest sashiko thread and artsy transfer patterns to embellish your life. Plus pre-cuts, bundles galore, great vibes, and lotsa love. 😘

Hey Everyone! We have a pretty ✨fab✨ workshop this Saturday May 16th from 10am-4pm… Fabric weaving!!

It’s a no-sew technique that I’d recommend for confident beginners and up, and sets you up with the takeaway skills and tools to use this technique for some true *wow* factor in your makes, such as pouches, bags, table decor, and so much more. 💥

Led by local treasure Tina van Roggen, who is one of a few teaching this work, and who is moving across the country soon! (So no, we won’t be having this one again…)

Cost is $95 for the whole day, you only need to bring three fat quarters, some pins you don’t mind bending, and your game face. Oh, and lunch. 😘

QUICK ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT PARKING 🅿️🙃

Hey All, if you are planning to come to the shop today (Friday 4/10), you will find our road (Central Street) is closed due to some utility work.

BUT you CAN still drive into our parking lot, or park on the street and walk over to our entrance.

It's a glorious spring day! Enjoy! 🌷☀️✨

You guys: we have CLASSES. 😭🤓🏆

This weekend we are opening the studio to welcome back our friend Cynthia from for more botanical printing, and offering some sewing classes with some lovely projects to help our beginner friends get going!

We have the cutest boxy zippy pouch, fab dinner napkins (easy to make for newbies and the best gift ever), plus more on our April calendar where you can register.

Also—and this is my fave part—we have open studio hours on Thursdays. So you can come and have a studio space with gorgeous light and big work tables and tools to work on your projects and meet some cool people.

(That is, of course, the best part of my job. 💝)

Happy Wednesday everyone!!

It’s actually warm outside today, but always warm inside! 😊

Just wanted to share the goodness of this adorable line of fabric from that take me way back to the days of reading this funny little book to my funny little one.

It’s funny the things we remember, no? I am appreciating this memory of love today!

You guys. I don’t know about you, but is time accelerating?!?

This is a LOT happening at the Fab Lab, and I am trying to keep up! (Some days more gracefully than others.) 🤪

I’m really proud of our shop, and am bursting with anticipation to begin our classes, coming in April!

Also, our Refab room is pretty amazing right now, filled with some pretty wonderful finds from fabrics to notions to weird stuff that makes you say “cool”!!

I’m the meantime, here are a few snapshots of life at the Fab Lab, always hoping to inspire, delight, and empower you.
