Another instrument panel completed! This time it's the Messerschmitt Me 410. A highly interesting and rather unusual panel; I will probably prepare a separate review covering both the panel itself and the available cockpit photographs of this aircraft. The panel has been built in full scale (1:1) and will be framed in the near future.

Crew of a Junkers Ju 88 wearing M35 steel helmets during an operational sortie. Standard Army-issue helmets were not practical to wear over a flying helmet, and attempts were made to modify the helmet for airborne use. However, these efforts never progressed beyond the experimental stage. As a result, aircrew in combat operations generally wore standard-issue steel helmets.

An extremely unusual instrument panel from a Messerschmitt Bf 109G. Photographs of this cockpit have been circulating online for years, yet there is still no definitive answer as to which experimental Bf 109 variant is depicted.
The originally very compact instrument panel appears to have undergone factory modifications rather than field alterations. The blind-flying panel was completely redesigned, with two additional instruments fitted, which in turn required changes to the main instrument panel itself.
Judging by the instrumentation, this appears to be some form of high-altitude Messerschmitt variant. I also wonder whether this could in fact be a photograph of the cockpit of the 1943 Messerschmitt Me 209H.
