There is one unusual legend that explains the name of the most popular cake with the name of the commander. It is said that the cake was invented by Napoleon Bonaparte himself, when Josephine suddenly found a loving man flirting with one of his maids of honor, who cheerfully whispered something in her ear. When Josephine's jealousy demanded an explanation of what was happening, the emperor was not confused and issued a reply in which he explained to her that he had only shared the recipe for the cake he had invented. He wrote a recipe on the go to convince his wife of his innocence. He was overheard by one of the marshals of France, who that evening told a terrific recipe to all of Versailles, and the court cook prepared this masterpiece for the table the next day.
