Analyze the songs. To understand how a piece is built, take a sheet of paper and a pen, and then listen to your favorite song a few times. Pay attention to the construction of the song on a sheet of paper. How many activities in lintro? How long is the break at the end of the lintro? How many activities in the poems, in the chorus, solo? How often are poems and refrains repeated? Where are the breaks? How long do they last? Where is the solo (or solo), is there part C? (This is a sung part, but with a melody different from a poem or a chorus) and so on. By doing this, you will get a template to build your melody.
Take a new sheet of paper. Now record the harmonic progressions. Write down the tone of the song and write the name of the chords that are used in different parts (introduction, poem, chorus, bridge and solo). Note how many measurements the chords are used (do 2 measurements, fa 1 measure, do 1 measure, etc.) What does the melody do according to these chords? Are the melody notes higher than the fa chord? Also pay attention to the construction of the melody. These are harmonies that "follow" the melody, not the other way around.
