Innovative digital solutions become available to small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises

👉 Due to the war, Ukrainian agricultural producers have faced new challenges: limited access to material and technical resources, a sharp rise in production costs, and a lack of funding. In such conditions, it is difficult to plan the work of the farm, and one of the ways to survive turbulent times is to make your enterprises as efficient and flexible as possible in management. Therefore, the USAID AGRO program makes innovative digital solutions for farm management available to small and medium-sized enterprises. One such solution is the Soft.Farm digital platform, which was developed with the support of USAID AGRO.

🧐 The program, in particular, helps to increase the efficiency and productivity of agricultural SMEs by collecting and analyzing relevant and accurate information about the farm. The system combines agro-technological data, monitoring (satellite data, agroscouting, GPS control of equipment, soil mapping, methodological observation), and management data.

All of this in a single system allows agricultural producers to track farm operations to the smallest detail, make decisions based on complete information, and increase efficiency and productivity.
The system has also been expanded to additional value chains, including fruit and vegetable production, where producers have more limited opportunities to implement innovative digital solutions compared to the grain and oilseed production segments.

Exports of Ukrainian soybeans reached record❗
️
☝️ In January, Ukrainian companies exported 406 thsd tonnes of soybeans, the highest monthly exports in recent years.

🧐 Compared to the previous month, soybean exports increased by 50 thsd tonnes, and tripled compared to January last year (in January 2022, Ukrainian soybean exports amounted to only 135 thsd tonnes).

👉 "The main reason for the increase of the Ukrainian soybean exports is the increase of the total soybean harvest in 2022 to 3.7 mln tonnes, which is the highest since 2017. We also note that due to the higher cost of 1 ton of soybeans compared to grains, the share of logistics costs per 1 ton of soybeans is lower than for grains such as corn or wheat," the analysts explain.

❗The potential of soybeans in the season-2022/23 is about 2 mln tons, another 1.6-1.7 mln tons will be processed. Active soybean exports at the beginning of the season means less supply for processing in the following months, which will negatively affect the processing margin in the second half of the season.

"So far, the exports of soybean oil remain quite stable - in January, it amounted to 24 thsd tonnes, which is the same as last month (on average, Ukraine exported about 20 thsd tonnes per month in 2022)," the experts added.

Ukraine has opened 12 new markets for agricultural exports 🚛

💡 Despite restrictions on visits of foreign inspectors to Ukraine and thanks to the coordinated cooperation of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 22 forms of international veterinary certificates for the export of objects of state veterinary and sanitary control and supervision from Ukraine to 12 countries were agreed in 2022.

The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection reports that the number of enterprises producing animal products that have the right to export their products to the European Union has increased to 432 over the year, which is 53 more than at the beginning of 2022.

👉 For comparison, in 2021, 23 enterprises received this right.
As noted, the positive dynamics in increasing the number of Ukrainian exporters to the European market is extremely important in the context of Ukraine's status as a candidate country for accession to the European Union.

👍 The agency added that work in this direction will continue on an ongoing basis and, in fulfilling the requirements of the Association Agreement with the EU as part of our commitments to join the European Union, this figure will increase daily.
