Our recent reel about staph infections in combat sports reached over a million views, and the comments sparked quite a discussion.

One thing that kept coming up was: “I’ve never had staph, so it’s not a problem.”

Others accused us of fear-mongering simply for talking about the risks and trying to educate.

But here’s the thing: “it’s never happened to me” and “it can’t happen to me” are two very different statements.

Staph bacteria can live on your skin without causing any problems. But when bacteria enter through broken skin, an infection can develop. Cuts, mat burns and abrasions are part of combat sports, which is why skin hygiene matters.

We’re not saying you should be scared of training. We’re saying you should understand the risks and know how to look after yourself.

🧼 Clean your skin after training. 🩹 Keep cuts clean and covered. 👀 Pay attention to changes in your skin. 🫣 Don’t ignore signs of a possible infection.

And looking after your skin means more than just getting clean. Your skin barrier matters, too.

That’s why we created the islanatural Fight range: skincare made with fighters in mind, for a more considered approach to your post-training routine.

Education isn’t fear-mongering. It’s giving people information so they can make informed decisions.

Most of us have never been shot, but I doubt we’d stand in front of a gun to prove we’re bulletproof. So why assume you’re immune to something just because it hasn’t happened to you? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Reuniting with my high school best friend after 18 YEARS apart… and naturally, she ordered islanatural products, so I hand-delivered them all the way from Thailand to Bali 🌴

We haven’t seen each other since graduation, but at least the skincare supply chain is thriving 🤝🏼🤍

Pink ribbons are everywhere this month 🎀

But what if Breast Cancer Awareness was about more than changing packaging to pink?

What if companies actually looked at what they’re putting into the products women use every single day?

Because “clean” branding, pretty packaging and a pink label don’t tell you what’s inside.

At islanatural, we believe what you put on your body matters. That’s why we choose simple, intentional ingredients and leave out the unnecessary stuff.

We don’t need to make our packaging pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We’d rather do something that actually matters: continue making products without the cancer-causing chemicals and other unnecessary ingredients that women are exposed to every single day.

Because supporting women shouldn’t just be a marketing campaign for October 🩷
