At 70 years old, Sandra Branny ran 21:51 for 5K at the Scottish 5K Championships, setting a new British record in the W70 age group.
She averaged 4:22 per km (7:02 per mile)—a pace many runners never touch at any age.
The performance put her clear at the top of the national all-time list for her age group and showed just how much speed can be maintained well into the 70s.
