Ok, more thoughts, sorry... I'm prepping for a number of things, in the 80's we lived off of our storage when I was out of work, in Hawaii about 2007 I had a ton of Walmart canned foods, and now I think the S will hit the fan sooner than later. We've been quarantined because of a pandemic, lots of political protests worldwide, an attempted assassination of some of America's Congressional members, calling out 'Hang Pence, Hang Pelosi', an attempt to overthrow our government! And the protesters included politicians, current and retired military, police, and the Capitol Police allowed them into some areas, we were minutes away from having many legislators kidnapped, tried in a kangaroo court, and killed. Yeah, I prep, the food shortages worldwide, the climate destroying huge areas of the planet, huge storms destroying thousands of acres of crops, thousands of livestock, diseases killing pigs, ducks, chickens in entire countries. Yeah, I prep, I want me and my family to survive until things calm down a bit. Hundreds of millions or maybe several billion people will die of starvation, weather events, disease, or war in the next few years. Yeah, I prep, it's hard to stockpile food when you earn so little but I'm doing it, water is critical and I got a generator to run the pump for our well, getting a solar generator to power some household appliances, charge all our phones and computers. We have nearly 10TB of movies, books, youtube how-to videos to prevent staying home for a few years boring us to death. You can learn skills, food storage, how to cook your storage and make your meals desirable, how to ferment, pickle, salt, dry various foods then add them to your meals. I'm looking out for our family, our friends, my wife's elder employers, and several friends including farmers. Right now I'm learning how to store, process, and eat grains and other long term, cheap healthy foods, I have plastic buckets with lids I add to whenever we shop, now macaroni and sauce, coffee and dry whole milk, and 100 lighters, tape, lotsa miscellaneous stuff I grab whenever I see it and toss it in a bucket, hopefully, there'll be a lot of food soon and I can relax and evaluate how my prepping is doing. So buy food when you can, study things on youtube that will help you survive, and to learn skills. Get started, the S is already hitting the fan.
