We’re hiring in Melbourne!

We’re looking for someone to join us as a Commercial Executive and grow into Commercial Manager over time, managing the commercial side of the business - customer service, distributors, events, marketing. It’s hands-on, varied, and a genuinely big opportunity for the right person.

You don’t need to be a coffee professional. Curiosity and people skills matter more. Being bilingual in English and Mandarin helps a lot - we work closely with our factory and team in China.

Full details and how to apply: option-o.com/careers (link in bio). If you know someone right for this, please pass it on.

That’s a wrap on World of Coffee Brussels 2026!

Now that we’ve had a week(+) to settle back in Melbourne, it finally feels like the right time to reflect.

What was it like to support the World Brewers Cup while also running our booth at World of Coffee Brussels? Hectic. Exciting. Exhausting. Inspiring. And above all, incredibly rewarding.

This was our first time taking on something like this, and we’re already keeping a list of things to do better next time (like remembering to take more photos!) - but every first has to start somewhere. A huge thank you to the OO Brussels team, our partners and friends who made it happen. We were short-handed at times, but together we pulled it off.

The biggest takeaway wasn’t the outcome of the competition itself - it was everything happening behind the scenes. Months of preparation, sacrifice, and dedication from every competitor just to make it to the World Brewers Cup.

Yes, every competition has winners, but from where we stood, everyone who made it there had already achieved something remarkable. It takes courage to step onto that stage, and an incredible amount of work to get there.

To everyone who stopped by our booth to chat, share a coffee, or simply say hello - thank you. Those experiences and conversations are what made coffee so memorable.

The flights were long, the jet lag is brutal (both ways!), but the people we met made every hour worth it.

We also somehow came home with almost half a suitcase full of coffee. 😅

If you’re in Melbourne, come by for a coffee - we’d love to share some of what we brought back.

LAGOM 01 Burr Basics 101.

A precision tool that lets you control particle size distribution down to the microns?? Why does that matter? In a nutshell, different burr geometries produce different particle curves (e.g. bimodal vs. unimodal for those that like to dive deep), which directly dictates whether your cup sings with clarity or punches with body. 🥊

We like to say grind size charts are the journey, but burr geometry is the destination. Whether you’re dialing in light roast for a low-fines brew or chasing high body vs. high clarity, your answer starts with particle distribution.

How do the three LAGOM 01 burr types grind and distribute coffee particles according to flavor profile?? Swipe ——————————>

THE BURRS:

⚙️ MIZEN: Balanced / Sweet
The all-terrain option. Produces a balanced particle size distribution with moderate fines for body + enough uniformity for clarity. Ideal for bouncing between espresso and pour-over. Exceptional with natural and processed coffees where you want sweetness without muting fermentation notes.
- TLDR: flexibility, balanced, sweet lingering finish.

⚙️ SSP HU: Bright / Floral / Robust
Aggressive flat burr geometry that leans toward a slightly wider distribution, more upfront flavor intensity. These deliver bright, punchy cups with excellent uniformity in the mid-range, accentuating the floral qualities at times, and shine with washed and cleaner coffees. Expect robust pour-overs and espressos where the first sip grabs you.
- TLDR: washed clean coffees, high-acidity, anyone chasing “clarity with guts.”

⚙️ SSP BREW: Clean / Low Body / Delicate
Ultra-high clarity burrs. These produce an extremely unimodal particle distribution, very few fines, almost no boulders. The result? A tea-like, translucent cup where intricate, nuanced flavors stretch out across your palate. Not for those who want body; essential for those who chase florals, bergamot, and stone fruit skins.
- TLDR: light, delicate complex coffees, filter-only obsessives.

WoC Bangkok - every LAGOM we saw in under 10 seconds. Swipe left, pinch, and zoom to see which grinder was spotted the most among the pros.

So much happened in just three days:

Proud to be the official grinder sponsor of the World Tasters Cup at Bangkok, watching the world’s sharpest palates give it their best. Kudos to every competitor who put in the work and earned the chance just to compete on this insanely high-level world stage. Congratulations!

It was also heart-warming to see so many LAGOM grinders in action (from Mini to 01), from booth pop-ups to Roaster Village, helping brewers and roasters serve delicious coffee all day. We did a quick zoom through the event for a little roll call, and snapped a few photos of them at work.

Thanks to everyone who popped by to visit us and check out our grinders at the booth. Great team, great people - if you’re in Thailand, please support them. They’ll take good care of you!

Next up: see you in Brussels in a month.

Fits anywhere a card can (if it also fits in your wallet dm us 🤣🤣 we would actually love to see this). The 6.5cm footprint your apartment coffee setup, tiny coffee corner, or small kitchen needs.

“Does the PCS on the LAGOM 01 actually pre-crush? Or is it just… feeding?”

Fair question.

Also fair: we thought we showed/explained this already… but maybe not that clearly 😅

So here’s a quick (slightly scrappy - our editor’s on holiday version) video to clear things up.

Did the results surprise you, or was it what you expected?

LAGOM 01 users - how has your experience been, pre- and post-PCS? Let us know!

P.S. The necessary disclaimer: we removed a few parts for testing/demo purposes. This isn’t how the grinder is intended to be used - improper handling may cause damage.

P.P.S. PCS = Preliminary Crushing System. We coffee people do love our abbreviations 😅
