Chommanard International Women Literary Award 2025 Opens for Submissions Across South East Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan & China
Bangkok, Thailand – 1 June 2025 – The Chommanard Book Prize proudly announces the opening of submissions for the Chommanard International Women Literary Award 2025, an expanded regional edition of Thailand’s most prestigious literary prize celebrating the extraordinary contributions of female authors. Organized by Bangkok Bank and Praphansarn Publishing, the award now welcomes entries from women writers across ASEAN, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, reaffirming its mission to elevate female literary voices on a global stage.
Honouring Regional Literary Excellence Originally established in 2008 to recognize exceptional Thai female authors, the Chommanard Book Prize has evolved into a regional platform that champions cultural richness, social resonance, and literary excellence. This year marks the first fully international edition of the prize, inviting fiction works published between 2015 and 2025 in English (original or translated) by authors holding nationality or permanent residency in eligible countries.
Prestigious Awards & Global Recognition
The Grand Prize winner will receive 500,000 THB (~15,000 USD), with additional Country Winner Awards of 40,000 THB (~1,200 USD) available to one eligible author per country. Winning works will also be considered for Thai-language translation and publication, ensuring a broader readership across Thailand and beyond.
Shortlists and winners will be determined by an esteemed panel of literary professionals. While jurors may remain anonymous, their collective feedback will be published to uphold transparency and recognition for the shortlisted authors.
Submission Details
Submissions are open from 1 June to 15 July 2025 (GMT+7) via virf.io. Required materials include:
• A full manuscript in English (PDF format)
• Book summary or press release
• Signed letter of originality
• Author biography and high-resolution photographs
• High-res book cover
• Three printed copies mailed to the Award Committee (Bangkok address listed below)
Eligible works must be published by a registered, professional publishing imprint within the Asia-Pacific or English-speaking countries.
