In my previous post I promised to introduce my fashion and jewelry business and also explain the process I take in making my high quality hand crafted Thai beads.
Here are some of the processes involved:
Selection of Raw Materials: I start by selecting high-quality materials such as wood, horn, metal, glass and precious stones used in making beads.
Cutting and Shaping: Depending on the chosen material, the beads are cut into the desired shape and size. This involves carving, drilling, or molding.
Decoration: My Thai beads are intricately decorated. This can involves hand-painting, engraving, or inlaying with materials like gems or shells.
Polishing: Beads are often polished to achieve a smooth and glossy finish. We do this by using various tools and abrasives.
Dyeing: If color is desired, the beads are dyed using natural or synthetic dyes. This step usually requires precision to achieve the desired hue or colour.
Stringing: The Beads are then strung together to create jewelry. This involves traditional knotting techniques.
Finishing Touches: Clasps, connectors, or other embellishments are added to complete the design and make the beads functional.
Quality Control: Before the finished beads are sold or used as jewelry, they go through quality control to ensure they meet the desired standards.
Packaging: Finally, we package the beads in an appealing manner, ready to be sold or used in crafting.
