9 Baht Book Sale!

Dasa Books is having a sale this month, BUT there is a twist this time.

This sale is NOT for any of the books in our regular stock. Instead, all the books in our already discounted “Blowout” sections (located on the table outside our shop and under the bookshelves on our ground floor) will be on sale for 9 baht each. Normally, these books sell for 19 baht or 49 baht.

Unlike our regular inventory these books are NOT returnable. Also, we do not have a list of these books in the blowout sections. If you want to know what we have on sale you will actually have to come to the shop and see for yourself.

Dasa Books is open every day, from 10:00 am till 8:00 pm, and also on all public holidays.

Dasa Books Anniversary Sale

This month marks the 21st anniversary for Dasa Books in Bangkok. We would like to thank all our customers for your support over these years. We really appreciate it!

To celebrate our anniversary, we are having a SALE from May 15 until May 31. All books and CDs will be on sale for 20% off our regular price. This discount is also good for mail orders.

***The sale, however, does NOT include the already discounted books in the “Blowout” sections of the shop.

A sad day at the bookshop.

No, we are not going out of business; that's not the tragedy here.

This evening, we found several damaged books on the upper floors of the shop. Many of these books recently came in. Some of them were beautiful hardcover books. Some of them were titles that rarely came by. These books weren't damaged when they came in. They were DESTROYED on purpose by a human being.

Soon after we found out, we checked our CCTV footage. We found a man who spent a bit of time upstairs deliberately slashing through pages like it was giving him pleasure. He was looking left and right just to make sure there was no one around. This serial book killer seemed to enjoy his endeavor and even looked at the camera the same way a psycho would in a movie.

For those of us in the book business, it’s already a struggle to keep our doors open. We fight every day to celebrate stories that matter, to create a community around the love of reading. To witness this act of malice against the very essence of our mission was a blow to us. These weren’t just books; they were dreams, ideas, and memories waiting to be discovered.

Our heart ached not just for the lost pages, but for the fact that there are people who do not understand their value.

Share this tale and help us spread the love for books that connect us all. Together, we can shine a light on the joy of reading and remind the world why books still matter.

It’s anniversary time!

This month marks 20 years that Dasa Books has been open in Bangkok.

We would like to thank all the customers who have purchased books from us over these years.

We have survived the Covid lockdown, several military coups, street protests, and the current heat wave, but we are still open every day of the week and remain committed to offering our customers a wide range of interesting secondhand books.

In celebration of our anniversary, we are having a SALE starting on Wednesday May 15 and running until May 31.

All books and CDs will be on sale for 20% off our regular price. This discount is also good for mail orders (any mail order placed after May 12 can receive the discount). But please note that the discount will NOT be extended past May 31, and all sales must be finalized and paid for by that date. Also, the sale will NOT include the already discounted books on the “Blowout” table outside the shop.

In addition to the sale, we will have a LUCKY DRAW at the end of the month. we will choose 5 names at random from customer entries. Each winner will receive a 1,000 baht gift voucher from Dasa. To qualify for the Lucky Draw, a customer will need to purchase at least 500 worth of books at one time. If you are bringing books to exchange, the total after credit is applied will need to exceed 500 baht.

Dasa มาจากภาษาบาลี แปลว่า ‘ทาส’ เพราะสถานที่แห่งนี้เป็นเหมือนขุมทรัพย์ของทาสรักหนังสือมือสองและซีดีเพลง ที่ยังคงไว้ซึ่งกลิ่นอายโรแมนติกแบบยุคแอนะล็อกให้ชวนคิดถึง เคียงคู่ชาวสุขุมวิทมานานกว่า 19 ปี ด้วยคอนเซ็ปต์ Quality Secondhand Books ที่อัดแน่นด้วยหนังสือสารพัดหมวดหมู่จัดเรียงตามชื่อผู้เขียนอย่างเป็นระบบ ถ้าโชคดีอาจจะเจอหนังสือหายากสภาพดีในราคาสบายกระเป๋า
