* What It’s Made Of
Shell Helix Ultra ECT 5W-30 is a fully synthetic motor oil designed to protect modern engines, improve fuel economy, and help keep emission systems (especially diesel particulate filters) clean. The “ECT” stands for Emissions Compatible Technology.
* Core Components
1. Synthetic Base Oils
Made using Shell PurePlus Technology — Shell’s patented gas-to-liquid process that converts natural gas into a very pure base oil. This base oil is about 99.5% pure, with far fewer impurities and stronger, more uniform molecular structure than traditional crude-derived oils.
2. Additive Packages
High-performance additives are blended into the base oil to give the finished product its protective and performance properties. These include:

Keep engine parts clean by preventing sludge and deposit build-up.
% Anti-wear agents:
Protect metal surfaces under high pressure and temperature.

* How It Works
Viscosity Grade (5W-30):
This means the oil flows like a 5-weight oil when cold (good cold start performance) and behaves like a 30-weight oil at normal operating temperature — a balance between flow and film strength across different climates and driving conditions.
