“The worse loss is to lose nearness to Allah Most High by one’s heart becoming veiled from Allah Most High due to the spiritual damage of the sins.”

That is Shaykh Yusuf Weltch, answering somebody who admitted that their remorse after sinning was only the thought of Allah’s anger, and asked how to learn to make tawba well.

“Being in jeopardy of entering the hellfire due to one’s sins is only a tiny part of the potential loss caused by sin.”

Drawing on al-Ghazali’s Ihya, he puts the whole matter in five words: “Sins are poisons for the soul.” And real remorse needs no forcing once that is seen: “Remorse is a natural outcome in the heart when one realizes their sin has caused them to lose something beloved.”

He memorised the Qur’an at Dar al-Mustafa in Tarim, where he studied for three years under Habib Umar bin Hafiz.

“I want to take out my eyes and look at him…”

In this blessed month of Rabi‘ al-Awwal, the month in which our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was born, this moment feels especially touching.

While lying sick in hospital, this young Madrasah student speaks with innocence and deep love as he describes seeing the Prophet ﷺ, speaking of his beauty, his nur and the peace he felt in his presence.

Whether young or old, may this month remind us that love for Rasulullah ﷺ is something to be nurtured in our hearts through learning about him, following his Sunnah and increasing our selawat upon him.

May Allah grant this young student complete health’, fill our hearts with sincere love for His Beloved ﷺ, and gather us with him in the Hereafter. Amin. 🤲🏽💚

اللهم صل وسلم وبارك على سيدنا محمد ﷺ

SAUDI ARABIA IS JUST A DESERT
Chapter: Medina

Al Nizar, also known as An-Nizar Fortress, is a pivotal historical site located in the Khaybar Oasis, about 153 kilometers north of Medina. It is most famous as the location of the final, decisive stronghold taken during the 628 CE Battle of Khaybar.

Exploring the ancient oasis of Khaybar, Saudi Arabia. This historical site is home to 7th-century fortresses, including the formidable Al-Nizar fortress. Beyond the military history of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) era, Khaybar is an archaeological wonder deeply rooted in the agricultural and trading heritage of the Arabian Peninsula. Preserving these sites allows us to reflect on the deep historical roots of the region.

In 1932, during the Atatürk era, the practice of reciting the Adhan (Ezan/Azan) in Turkish was initiated. The aim was to ensure that the words spoken during worship were understood by the people, as many at that time did not know Arabic. The first Turkish Adhan was recited in 1932 at the Fatih Mosque.
The Adhan was Turkified as follows:

“God is great, God is great God is great, God is great
I know and I declare, there is no god but God..”

The Turkish Adhan continued for approximately 18 years.
In 1950, the Democrat Party, led by Adnan Menderes, came to power, and the law was changed to allow the Adhan to be recited in Arabic again.
From that day on, the Adhan continued to be recited in Arabic in Turkey, and it is stil recited this way today.

🍷 Why is alcohol forbidden in Islam?

In Islam, the prohibition of alcohol is not simply about the drink itself — it is about protecting the mind, body, faith, and society from its harms.

Allah says:

“Indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters, and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.”

📖 Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:90

Alcohol can impair judgement, affect relationships, lead to addiction, and cause a person to lose control of their actions. Islam closes the door to these harms by commanding believers to stay away from intoxicants.

A reminder for myself and my fellow Muslims: what Allah forbids, He forbids for a reason, even when we may not immediately understand every wisdom behind it. 🤍

May Allah keep us firm upon what is halal and protect us from what is harmful. Ameen. 🤲🏻

Makkah, 1954 — a glimpse into Hajj over 70 years ago. 🕋

A rare look at Muslim pilgrims gathering in Makkah, long before the towering buildings, modern roads and crowds we see today.

Different time. Different world.
But the same Kaabah, the same devotion, and the same hearts answering the call of Allah. 🤍

Generations have come and gone, yet the journey to Makkah remains unchanged, Muslims from every corner of the earth gathering as one Ummah, standing together before their Lord.

A beautiful reminder that some things never change.
