🌎 ☪️ Muslim around the world commemorates the Islamic New Year, also known as the Hijri New Year or 1 Muharram, which marks the start of a new lunar year in the Islamic calendar. It commemorates the Hijrah, the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. (PBUH) migration from Mecca to Medina in 622 CE, which signifies not just a historical event but a profound spiritual journey of faith, resilience, and transformation. This sacred occasion offers Muslims a valuable opportunity to pause, reflect, and renew their intentions. It reminds us that, like the Prophet’s journey, we too can begin new spiritual paths, leaving behind past missteps and stepping into the future with renewed faith and purpose. This year, the Islamic (Hijri) New Year for 1447 AH is expected to commence on Thursday, 26 June, with the new lunar month of Muharram beginning at sunset and continuing into 27 June, subject to the sighting of the crescent moon.
