Second year at Lake Kallsjön, and so many familiar faces came back for round two.

You buy a rooftop tent thinking it’s about the sleeping setup. Turns out it’s about ending up at a lake in Åre with a bunch of people who get it — who’d rather sit through bad weather together than skip the trip altogether.

Campfires, paddling, live music under the lavvu, great food that kept coming out until everyone went back for seconds. Kids making new friends, dogs roaming free, conversations running long after dark.

We didn’t make the Sunday hike again this year. Rain, second summer running. Nobody seemed to mind — there was too much else going on.

If this is what year two looked like, year three is going to be something. Bring your rooftop tent, come find out for yourself. 🏔️

Lofoten was worth every hour of driving to get there.

“What an adventure this has been so far. The Barrel Challenge is a unique road trip where teams drive thousands of kilometers through Europe in older cars, relying on teamwork, creativity, and a spirit of adventure. Our route takes us from the Netherlands all the way to Albania and back again, covering thousands of kilometers and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Luckily, we have our rooftop tent from Taktältarna with us, because it has truly become an essential part of this journey. After a long day on the road, we can set up the tent in just a few minutes and immediately enjoy our campsite for the night. And the sleeping comfort has been a pleasant surprise – we sleep incredibly well and wake up refreshed every morning, ready for the next stage of the trip.

What we love most about traveling with a rooftop tent is the sense of freedom it gives us.

No strict schedules, just the open road and the flexibility to stop wherever we find a beautiful spot. That’s exactly what a road trip should be about.
For us, this rooftop tent has been a perfect companion during the Barrel Challenge: easy to use, comfortable, and always ready for the next adventure.
