The season has begun! 💥
Most of my crew are still deep in the heavy training phase, but several athletes have already kicked off their race season, with many more lining up over the coming weeks.
First up are the “Ny-bro’s” as I call them (Ny = new, and while they’re not actually brothers, they’re definitely bros). Oh - and they are not actually from Nybro - but close 😎. Just one week after making their half marathon debut, they lined up for their first sprint triathlon of the season and absolutely crushed it. Jonas clocked 1:02 and Bullen followed with a 1:04.
I thought anything around 1:10 would be a solid starting point. Apparently they had other plans. They must be taking cues from their training partners, where overachieving has become the norm.
Meanwhile, our newest Stockholmer, Simon Krawe, and cyclist-turned-triathlete Henrik Dernegård headed to Hallstahammar for the Swedish Age Group Olympic Distance Championships and both came away with excellent results. Henrik ripped a 2:12:05 to claim bronze in his age group, while Simon wasn’t far behind, finishing in 2:20:24 and taking 5th in his age group.
And finally, our young gun Simon McVitty-Östberg, currently navigating the transition to student life, tested his form at the Karlshamn Triathlon and came away with an impressive 5th overall in 2:13:26.
A fantastic start to the season. Plenty more racing to come! 🚀.
