Born in 1983, Judd Thompson spent his formative years growing up on the Crow Indian Reservation, gaining inspiration from the art he was surrounded by in his parents’ business, The Custer Battlefield Trading Post. Judd draws inspiration from Western artists, especially Joseph Henry Sharp. Judd uses his passion for color theory to capture the essence of Crow Country in a variety of media. After graduating from the University of Wyoming in 2010 with a degree in Art & Art History, Judd moved to Billings, MT where he currently resides.

“Art is about growth for me, it’s about creating something that hasn’t been made yet! Bringing color to a blank canvas and I pride myself in pushing the limits with my new artwork. Turning something worthless into something timeless. I like dissecting my material and forcing the viewer to find a narrative in each piece. Crows are known for being the best storytellers, vividly describing the world around them. So I naturally find myself telling a story with my art.” —Judd Thompson

We are beyond thrilled and incredibly honoured to announce our first ever truck show at on the 18th of September!

This has been a long time in the making and a dream come true.

Steve McQueen. James Dean. Robert Redford. Harrison Ford. Clint Eastwood.
They weren’t following fashion - they were writing the rule book for what would become modern style.
The 60s and 70s were about grit over gloss, rebellion over routine and staring out rather than fitting in. Clothes were lived-in, scarred, and full of stories. Hats, denim, leather - they weren’t accessories, they were companions. Every tear, crease and nick were told a story of the journey seen and the roads less traveled.

At House of Harding, we don’t chase trends. We are on co start pursuit of that spirit - raw, fearless and timeless. Style with soul, built to be lived in.

We often get asked what’s the hardest hat to make and it’s always the same answer: a clean hat.

There are some many processes and treatments we need to do as we make a hat that involve fire, steam and high heat and it’s really easy to make a mistake along the way.

You see a lot of distressed hats these days and that’s because they’re very popular, and secretly, your hat make likely loves it because they can hide a lot of mistakes that may happen.

We can shape and style almost anything, paint it, scorch it, shoot a hole through it - anything - by making a “clean” hat is by far the most challenging.

But as we all know, there’s no wrong way to wear a hat!

This is one we did for our long-time collaborative partner in Notting Hill.

If you haven’t been in to see them already, get yourself over there now. We’re honoured to make hats for them and they have the best selection of authentic Native American jewellery in the country, as well as some of the most beautiful hand-drawn prints and patterns - drawn by Jessie herself - that they use for all their clothes, all made in London.

Words to live by: “How you do anything, is how you’ll do everything” and “If a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing right.”

I believe what we do is worth doing. That’s why we never cut corners or skip a step to get ahead. HOH hats can take up to 15hrs on the bench and we’re absolutely ok with that - quality lives in the details and the discipline and the constant practice and repetition.

Yes, there a burns, pricked fingers, cuts, bruises and blisters and I love it. Each one is a badge of honour as far as I’m concerned.

We’ve been away, quietly working and reflecting on ourselves as a brand, what we stand for and what we offer. And most importantly, how we’re going forward and how hard we’re going to work to get there.

This poem is the cornerstone of House of Harding and the foundation of our ethos. For all of those who said it can’t be done, “I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul.”

We’ll see you at new heights.
