Sandwich SHOP, open since October 2016, is an appendix project of sandwich Gallery, with the purpose of bringing the art closer to a wider public, by creating objects and artworks in limited editions only. Sandwich SHOP este proiectul anexă al Galeriei sandwich, creat în octombrie 2016 cu scopul de a aduce arta mai aproape de publicul larg prin crearea unor obiecte și opere de artă în ediții limit
ate. Primele produse oferite de SwSh sunt seriile de serigrafii abstracte (S1-S10) și cele cu modele vegetale, urmate de printuri unicat și de seriile care destructurează și reintepretează elemente de propagandă comunistă. Ne este cu neputință să le datăm exact, însă, judecând după motivele ce apar pe ele, după designul și tehnica folosite, sitele au fost facute în perioada comunistă, probabil pentru a folosi la afișe, draperii sau steaguri. Deși nu mai sunt în cea mai bună condiție, credem că încă mai au viață în ele, că mai pot spune o poveste și, mai ales, că sunt un bun exemplu al perioadei pre-Illustrator pentru designul grafic românesc. Din cauza stării precare a sitelor, dar și pentru că sunt realizate manual, serigrafiile vor fi diferite una față de cealaltă, chiar și în cadrul aceleași ediții, ceea ce contribuie la unicitatea lucrărilor.

Sandwich SHOP, open since October 2016, is an appendix project of sandwich Gallery, with the purpose of bringing the art closer to a wider public, by creating objects and artworks in limited editions only. The first products that SwSh is offering are the series of abstract silkscreen prints (S1-S10) and the ones with floral motifs, followed by several unique works and a new series which restructures and reinterprets elements of the communist propaganda. We have recovered the silkscreen meshes used to create these series on their way from a dusty storage within the former Colors Factory to the dumpster. It is impossible for us to clearly date them, yet, judging by their motifs, by their design and the technique used to create them, the silkscreen meshes were made in the communist era, probably being used to create posters, curtains or flags. Although they are not in the best possible shape, we strongly believe that there is still some life in them, that they are still able to tell a story, and, above all, that they are a very good example of the pre-Illustrator Era for Romanian design. Due to their precarious state, but also because they are created manually, the silkscreen prints might be slightly different from each other, even within the same series, giving uniqueness to each print.
