Although this is a recent accompany (2010), it was founded by its only associate, someone who has been working in the business individually since 1990. It holds some exclusive products, as a result of years of experience and of the experiments made with the mixture of different materials. It has customers that spread all over the national territory and it has been exporting for Spain since 2000.
“Carlos Loureiro Sociedade Unipessoal, Lda.” is a company whose main activity is the
production of different types of fishing lure. The company’s activity sector is broadly named
support for sports or amateur fishing and it is composed of several categories of products:
fish lure, baits and lure additives (mainly for fresh water, but also with some products for
sea water). At the moment, the company is using two distinctive brands: Kaptura Iberica and
Synergy Fishing Plus.The company has made a huge investment in the creation, production
and commerce of innovative products, lure, additives and bait for sports and leisure fishing, for fresh or salt water, according to its own formulae developed over the years. In fishing, whether for leisure or competition, the way of attracting the fish in order to obtain the capture (luring) is an essential factor for the success of the activity. In order to optimize the capturing there are a number of solutions which have been developed, for both fresh and salt water fishing. In fresh water fishing there is a luring technique that consists of mixing flour-based products which includes a variety of previously selected cereals, known for their attractability factor amongst the fish that you want to catch. This mixture must be moistened because it is not immediately ready for use. Moistening the lure is an extremely important operation and the good results depend mostly on its preparation. This process traditionally is made by pouring the lure in a recipient for the mixing and then moistening it with water until an homogenous and compact texture is obtained; it is then let to absorb and later it is fine-selected so as to eliminate all the imperfections and obtain a more spongeous and easy-to-handle result. Later, the first stage consists of launching 5 or 6 “balls” (4,5 to 6 cm width) at the water, so that the fish start feeding on it, thus creating a fishing area. Next you use smaller versions of these “balls”, to stop them from exiting the fishing área, but not satisfying all their appetite at once – so that you can try to capture them by using a hook with bait. But for a long time fishermen have faced the same types of problems when using this technique – since fishing is not an exact science, when doing the mixture there is always the possibility of various changing factors that might condition the amount of lure that is used (even if this quantity is legislated). Hence, it is very frequent that there are many leftovers and the lure gets easily damaged after being moistened, since bacteria create funguses, some cells of the product die, which leads to decoloration and eventually to the rotting of the product. The fat becomes old, as a result of oxidation, and enzimes cause irreversible changes, such as the darkening of the product, making the leftovers almost always impossible to reuse. So far, in the universe of hundreds of lure formulae that exist in the national and international market, there has been no formula with flour-based products that doesn’t need moistening by hand and with the ability to avoid deterioration.
