...Chasing New Dreams Among Ancient Sands…
BETHLEHEM BEAD PROJECT
"May the sands that supported the feet of Jesus, the prophets, and the patriarchs, now also help support our dreams"
ABOUT: Bethlehem Bead Project is a self-sufficiency initiative of Bridges for Bethlehem, US reg 501c3 charity. We have provided seed money, supplies, expertise, and marketing for a small group of women and girls
in the Bethlehem area who are creating beautiful, unique, handmade jewelry from natural holy land resources. Arab Palestinian Muslim & Christian women, together, are praying that the sands that supported the feet Jesus and the prophets, might now support their dreams.
So much is needed in these women’s lives: nutritious food, medicines, education, etc. Our goal, as with our other income producing programs, such as our Charitable Farms, is to provide a path to greater stability and independence.
These bracelets are being offered by Bridges For Bethlehem, US reg 501c3 for a limited time beginning December 2022. However, the good news is, every cent we receive is returned to the brave and creative craftswomen of BBP to help support their families and their dreams. OUR STORY: We learned of this project while helping a widowed mother and her two daughters with food and utilities in a tiny village near Bethlehem. They could not afford gas to cook with in their kitchen and had not eaten meat for months. We fell in love with their beautiful desire to create something charming and unique in all the world using natural Palestinian resources and instantly vowed to help! Their dream was to create something to represent the proud heritage of creative Palestinian women that could not be cheaply imitated, or mass produced in other countries, something of beauty and worth. The result of their vision is Bethlehem Bead Project. Their very first beads were made from the village sand where barefooted children play. We are offering 2 styles: St. Mother Teresa and Marian Rosary, each using a variety of four types of natural, Holyland, handmade beads:
Enduring Gold: Made from the sands of Bethlehem, This enduring sand is part of all that God holds dear, part of his home and heart. Marian Blue: Made from Dead Sea salts, just like the pure blue of the Virgin Mary's robes, or the ancient blue stones from Hebron, the resting place of Abraham.
Sumud Green: Made from the carefully pruned leaves of ancient Palestinian olive trees near Bethlehem, a deep symbol of Palestinian’s faith and love for their land. Holyland Rose: Made from the petals of native hibiscus, rose, bougainvillea, poppies... fragrant, vibrant flowers that give the desert life and hope. When you support Bethlehem Bead Project, you not only help marginalized women gain food security and self sufficiency, you become a bridge of hope and joy to fellow peacemakers in the Holy Land!
