Hi there,

In August I'm going to visit my brother in the Yukon (Canada) :)

My staff is great so I'm sure the shop will be working very well :)

So a few things:
1. Main Shop (Puławska 134A) and online store will be working as usuall. So Please feel free to come or order online :)
2. our outlet with books for 6 zł each (Puławska 140) will be closed throughout August.
3. Invoices will be issued within 10 days from the date of sale. So please don't expect to get the invoice immidiately in August
4. If you have any complicated ideas such as school trips or shipping a big box of books to another country we either need to do it now or in September. I apologize for the inconvenience. Just to not be misunderstood: we love the school visits to our bookstore so If you are thinking about one. Please contact us in the future and we can open earlier for you. (the space is limited so we prefer to open earlier so there are no other customers)

Chciałbym przeprosić dwie Panie które wyprosiłem dzisiaj ze sklepu przed otwarciem. Nie dlatego, że je wyprosiłem tylko dlatego, że byłem niemiły. Mam nadzieję, że się jeszcze zobaczymy :)

Bardzo przepraszam, bo nasza strona nie działa od jakiejś pół godziny(lub trochę dłużej).

Awaria jest po stronie firmy hostingowej więc czekamy aż oni się naprawią.

Ciekawe, bo tuż przed tym jak się popsuła zastanawiałem się za co się zabrać :) Pozytywy są takie, że dzięki tej awarii nie mam już tej rozkminy i mogę skupić się na pisaniu tego posta :)

Jeszcze raz przepraszam za niedogodności i zapraszam do zakupów stacjonarnych(chociaż nie powiem, że nie jest gorąco lol)

Thanks to my supplier Liviana and my girlfriend Julia, our old shop is finally organised :)

I just realised why I’m getting fat.

But jokes aside, Liviana came to Poland to visit me and in her spare time she decided to organise the old shop(the outlet). After she left, Julia took over and organised even more, made labels and instructions. Isn’t it incredible? Thank you so much :)))

For those of you who don’t know:
When we moved to a bigger place in 2022 I decided to keep an old one because it was very cheap rent and we needed more storage space. I decided to try an idea of organising a self service outlet there. Since then you can enter the old shop, choose your books, bring them to the new location (about 100m) and pay 6 zł per book. The only problem was an unbelievable mess there but not anymore. Oh and btw you can also take a full box of books from an outlet for 70 zł. Just please don’t expect good titles there :p

Oh and I also wanted to mention that a couple of times for these few years someone organised books by himsself/herself in an old shop. So I wanted to thank this mysterious person as well. Imagine a feeling when you enter your old shop when you want to close it and it's organised. Magic.

Today I would like to share one, maybe not very positive, observation.

Some people come to the store with headphones on their ears. We are still very happy that they came. If you are one of them I will be happy to see you again here. It is not about that.

I'm just amazed how often some of these people don't realise I speak to them. To be fair I often speak too quietly so that's one thing I should improve

For me It is just a very short not pleasent feeling of being ingored. This is part of my job and I don't really care too much.

But have you ever thought about how many interactions with people is being missed that way? My personal belief (although I'm not saying I'm good at it) is that escaping from reality is never a good long term strategy. That's why I decided to write something about it.
