The back and sides of Luthier’s Classical Contrabass Guitar No. 559 “Galina” are constructed from Caribbean rosewood with sapwood in Master Grade quality, a dense, acoustically rich tonewood that supports deep, powerful lows and a responsive overall voice. This choice of wood gives the instrument both visual character and a warm, resonant foundation that enhances its contrabass register.
The rosette is a custom-made detail crafted from natural Baltic amber, shaped like a Pectoral (Scythian collar) and engraved to complement the instrument’s design. It surrounds the soundhole with a rich, organic warmth that pairs visually with the deep tones of the contrabass guitar and highlights the premium materials used throughout the build.
This contrabass-body guitar combines master-grade tonewoods for a rich, powerful voice. Its double top is built from Alpine Spruce from Tirol over Western Red Cedar, giving both clarity and warmth, while the back and sides are crafted from Caribbean Rosewood with sapwood for depth and sustain. The custom rosette around the soundhole is made from natural Baltic amber shaped like a Pectoral (Scythian collar), adding visual elegance and a unique aesthetic detail
The headstock is designed specifically for the 9-string setup, allowing the extra string to run cleanly over it with proper tension and stability. Its sculpted shape balances functionality and elegance, while the precise string layout ensures smooth tuning and reliable response across the extended range.
Luthier’s 9-string classical guitar No. 533 - extended range with capos.
• Extended range design: an extra 9th string runs over the headstock (729.6 mm scale) and comes with two ebony capos (0 and -1 fret) to change the scale length instantly.
• Concert-grade build: double top (Western Red Cedar / Alpine Spruce from Tirol) paired with Cocobolo (with sapwood) back & sides, plus an elevated African ebony fingerboard.
• Innovation package: Acoustic Tubes in the neck, WAVE resonator, High-Tech Press back & sides with an internal chemical-ceramic coating for projection, and a custom impedance bridge with amber/bone inlay—plus interchangeable fingerboard extensions (21–27 frets).
The fingerboard is made of ebony and features tree-shaped position markers inlaid with natural Baltic amber, placed at the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and double at the 12th fret.
Luthier’s classical guitar No. 530 “Tori” is less an instrument and more a sculpted idea: a Torii-gate silhouette turned into a playable object.
Bearclaw Alpine spruce from Tirol on top, Amboyna Burl with sapwood on the back and sides, and a quiet storm of details - Baltic amber “water waves” on the head plates, engraved Japanese poetry, and a tiger & butterfly in natural and modified blue amber. Under the art, the engineering is just as deliberate: Acoustic Tubes inside the neck, a WAVE resonator top, and an Impedance Bridge in African ebony, inlaid with mammoth bone and amber—built to make beauty audible.

Rafal Turkowiak was born on 9 January 1966 in Golanice near Leszno, Poland. His father, a carpenter, and grandfather, a wheel-wright, had a great influence on the boy in the field of carpentry and wood technology.
At the age of 15, he graduated from a primary musical school having successfully completed a 3-year-course in less than half a year in classical guitar. Two years later, inspired by dismantling of an old guitar, he made his first classical instrument with a sound hole and unique soundboard construction with suspended bracing, which was innovative at the time. His passion for the guitar encouraged him to play these amazing instruments even more eagerly. In 1983, singing and playing his own guitar among 5000 other contestants, he qualified for the semis of the National Young Talent Show in Poznan, Poland. The jury including Aleksander Maliszewski, a well-known composer, and conductor, and Urszula Sipinska, a popular singer at that time, hailed him the Polish Paul McCartney.

Almost the twenty-year-long experience and experiments in guitar making have resulted in the successful solution of the soundboard. The ‘WAVE’ type resonator is applied in all of his instruments. He is also an inventor of first in the world guitar at which you may hear a sound not only from the guitar body but also from the guitar neck. The World patented innovation (Urzad Patentowy RP nr. P.419826 “Acoustic Tubes”; European Patent Office EP 3340231 (A1)) ‘Acoustic Tubes’ inside the guitar neck is his greatest achievement. He’s also the inventor of first in the World ‘bridge with drilled holes’ and back&sides made at ‘High-Tech Press’. All of the innovations place Rafal Turkowiak among the best luthiers.
