The Global Peace Tree stands as a powerful symbol of protection, perseverance and shared humanity — rooted in stories of people forced to flee, yet never losing their craft, culture or hope.

We are deeply grateful to have contributed handmade garlands and discs crafted by refugee artisans. Each piece reflects resilience, cultural memory and the strength carried across borders.

Throughout the forum, the tree grew even more meaningful as participants and refugees added their own messages of peace, solidarity and hope — transforming it into a living testament to collective voices and shared responsibility.

An inspiring chapter concludes in Peshawar. A three day workshop where Afghan refugee women explored their creativity, honed new embroidery skills, and built confidence through craft. This initiative, a collaboration between Pomegranate Seeds and , was guided by the compassionate mentorship of , providing a space for empowerment and opportunities for these women to acquire income generating skills, enabling them to support themselves and their families.

At the heart of this endeavor is founder of whose journey from war-torn Kabul to global activism embodies resilience and hope. Her mission to empower Afghan women and girls through education and equal opportunities continues to inspire and drive meaningful change.​

The symbol for strength on this beautiful charm is native to the Uzbek Afghan refugees that embroidered it. The symbol is referred to as "Chambar Shakh" which translates as ram's horns. It depicts strength and is usually woven on carpets and rugs to bring good luck into a home.
