Before anyone else... this post is for me!

Ramadan is long gone and I still haven't started exercising again!

I keep telling myself I'm too busy to exercise. But the truth is, we somehow find time for the things we truly prioritize.

So here's a reminder to myself: get up, go for that walk, lift those weights, and take care of the body Allah has entrusted to you.

Bismillah. Time to start again!

Hajj can wipe away all our sins, but it doesn't magically erase bad habits.

Real change begins when the lessons of Hajj continue long after the journey ends.

This actually happened to me during Hajj season...

A brother called from Makkah and asked me to make du'aa for him!

My immediate thought was:
"Brother, you're at Hajj! Shouldn't you be making du'aa for me?"

But the more I thought about it, the more his request made sense...

We often ask the hujjaj to make du'aa for us, but they need our du'aas too. After years of hoping, saving, and praying for the opportunity, many pilgrims arrive feeling humbled, overwhelmed, and eager for Allah to accept their Hajj.

Hajj is a journey that requires patience, self-control, and taqwa. A moment of anger or a careless word can spoil a tremendous opportunity for reward.

Maybe that's why the brother called. He just wants to do everything right and not mess up this once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity, so he's asking his friends to keep him in his prayers.

No matter where we are—even in Makkah—we all need Allah's help, and we all need the supplications of our brothers and sisters.

May Allah accept the Hajj of all the hujjaj and accept our worship during these blessed days. Ameen.

Not trying to judge or doubt anyone’s intentions, but many of us unintentionally weaken our acts of worship because of our social media addiction. What should be praise of the Creator sometimes turns into praise of ourselves — another way of seeking engagement, attention, and validation from others.

Acts of worship are meant to draw us closer to Allah — not our followers. There’s a time for photos and sharing memories… but there should also be moments kept purely between us and Allah.

So, just for a little while, let’s put the mobile phone away and be fully present with the One we are worshipping.

Don't belittle the significance of these next 10 days...

Ibn Abbas reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No good deeds are better than what is done in these first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.” Some companions of the Prophet said, “Not even jihad in the way of Allah?” The Prophet said, “Not even jihad in the way of Allah, except for a man who goes out with his life and wealth at risk and he returns with nothing.” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī)

May Allah grant us the tawfeeq... Ameen!

In a recent session of the 'Learn to Draw Animals from the Qur'an' workshop, which included kids from California, we read the story of Musa (AS) and one of the major signs that Allah (swt) gave him, i.e. the staff which turned into a snake. We then illustrated a snake together.

Again, I was amazed by the kids' creativity. I just drew a simple snake, but the kids went a few steps ahead and some fantastic details.

Enjoy! And if you'd like to learn more about the workshop, please DM me, or visit the webpage: https://islamiccomics.org/learn-to-draw-animals-from-quran-workshop/

Hajj cleanses one's sins so they return like a newborn baby… but explaining that to little kids can get complicated😄.

May Allah accept the Hajj of all the Hujjaj this year. 🤲🕋

One session of the 'Learn to Draw Animals from the Qur'an' workshop focuses on the signs that Allah gave to Musa (AS). There were several signs, including: the staff that turned into a snake, his hand turned gleaming white, and others mentioned in the following ayah:

Surah Al A'raaf, vs. 133

So We plagued them with floods, locusts, lice, frogs, and blood—all as clear signs, but they persisted in arrogance and were a wicked people.

After discussing the signs, the kids and I illustrated a frog together... Attached is the amazing work I received from participants in Saudi, Pakistan, and the USA. One of them is mine... can you guess which one? 🙂
