The Importance and Beauty of Sending Durood upon the Prophet ﷺ
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“When one of you performs Salat, let him begin by praising Allah and thanking Him. Then let him send blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ, and then let him make whatever supplication he wishes.”
(Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 3477, authenticated by al-Albani)
He ﷺ also said:
“The miser is the one in whose presence I am mentioned and he does not send blessings upon me.”
(Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 3546)
This is a powerful reminder. When we hear the name of Muhammad ﷺ and remain silent, we miss an easy and great reward.
The Virtue of Jumu’ah
The Messenger ﷺ said:
“The best day for you is the day of Jumu'ah. On this day, send salawat upon me, for your salawat are presented to me.”
(Sunan Abu Dawud 1531)
Jumu’ah is a special opportunity to increase in Durood and draw closer to the Prophet ﷺ.
اللهم صلِّ وسلم على نبينا محمد ﷺ
Allahumma salli wa sallim ʿalā nabiyyinā Muhammad ﷺ

“And remind, for indeed the reminder benefits the believers.” (Qur'an 51:55)
