No one talks about how confusing your 20s can be.

One moment, you think you’re on the right path. The next, you’re questioning everything.

You’re expected to have a career, make money, keep up with friends, take care of yourself, and somehow still be happy. But most days, it just feels like you’re trying to stay afloat.

Some friends are getting married. Some are moving up in their careers. Some are starting over. And some feel just as lost as you do.

No one talks about how isolating it feels. How exhausting it is to keep figuring things out. How scary it is to feel like you’re running out of time.

But maybe no one really has it figured out. Maybe we’re all just doing our best.

At first, it sounds like a dream. Work from anywhere, set your own hours, no office, no boss breathing down your neck.

And in many ways, it is a dream. But here’s what people don’t talk about:

It’s 10 PM, and I’m still replying to emails. It’s a weekend, but I’m thinking about deadlines.

I’m on vacation, yet my laptop is right beside me—because the work doesn’t stop just because I decided to take a break.

No fixed hours means I’m always on. No office means my home, my bed, even a beachside café can turn into a workplace.

And the so-called “freedom” sometimes feels like a trap—because when your work follows you everywhere, where do you really rest?

And the hardest part?

You start forgetting what it feels like to be fully present. You check your phone in the middle of conversations. You feel restless when you’re not working, as if slowing down means falling behind.

It’s like you’re always in two places at once—physically here, but mentally stuck in the next task, the next deadline, the next client.

But despite the exhaustion, the pressure, the loneliness of doing everything on my own—I still choose this.

Because for all its struggles, I know I’m building something for myself. And for that, I am grateful.
