Handbook on Spanish Civil Law Adapted to Philippine Civil Code (Obligations and Contracts)
Volume I- General Theory of Obligations and Contracts
Volume II - Contracts in Particular, Quasi-Contracts, Non-Contractual Liability
About the Books:
Filipinos and Spaniards live in two sister legal systems that, after sixty years of indifference, now have the opportunity to meet again.
Many economists equate human progress with civilizing institutions, such as the law, codes of conduct. and principles that govern societies.
The Civil Code is an essential part of the legal identity of society, with the law on obligations and contracts at its core.
This book examines the history of the Law on Obligations and Contracts, where the Philippine Civil Code has adapted a two-thousand-year-old legal tradition as embodied in the Justinian Digest, the Partidas of the Wise King, and the Common Civil Code of 1889.
This is the product of a joint vision with the late Professor Ruben F. Balane, who saw this project as a vital contribution to our common Civil Law tradition. It is hoped that there will be a strengthening of ties between Philippine and Spanish jurists, as well as a deeper understanding of the origins of the Law on Obligations and Contracts forged over millennia of experience.
