Japan is now letting tourists live out their anime school dreams for real.
A company in Japan is offering a "one-day student" scheme for foreign tourists, allowing them to immerse themselves in local school culture for 35,000 yen ($220).
As Japanese manga and anime culture continues gaining global popularity, fans have become captivated by the country's school culture - the iconic sailor uniforms, vibrant club activities, and strong team spirit portrayed in series like Slam Dunk and The Prince of Tennis.
The company Undokaiya launched "Your High School" in a converted abandoned junior high school in Kimitsu, Chiba Prefecture. For $220, tourists of any age can become a "one-day student" with up to 30 participants daily.
Visitors can wear classic sailor uniforms or suits, practice calligraphy, learn katana use, participate in traditional dance, and even experience disaster drills. During PE class, "naughty students" with dyed hair and baseball bats may disrupt activities, embodying Japan's rebellious Yanki Culture.
The day ends with classroom cleanup - teaching responsibility and teamwork - and visitors receive a graduation certificate.
Living your anime dreams has never been more affordable 🎌
