LEARNING STYLES?
25 years ago, after sitting through a conference talk on Styles, and noticing how popular a topic Styles had become, I gave it consideration: Okay, so, first I figure out what Style best suits each child (and to what degree). Then I modify lessons for each child? Oh, dear.
- - - My conclusion?
- - - It was unnecessary.
Charlotte Mason had us covered. She had us covered - and-then-some. I had no reason to stress over Styles. By following Miss Mason’s method I was giving each student opportunities to learn through a variety of avenues:
Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, Social, etc.
I could rest in this comforting thought. The challenge to measure and adjust lessons according to Styles faded away. What a relief.
With the Charlotte Mason Method, Styles take care of themselves. And according to Miss Mason’s wisdom and experience, they are appropriately proportioned for gaining knowledge. Hooray. 😊
For more of how Miss Mason has us covered, see Charlotte Mason Poetry Blog. In the comments below I put a link to “Learning Styles & Charlotte Mason" posted March 20th 2018 and read by one of the CMP team.
