What a week it has been. Yes, its story time haha.
During the week, when I finally found a moment to pause and catch my breath, I went to get coffee with my friend at Starbucks. It was around 9AM, I think, and I got there before her. Background - she is usually late but she is very responsible - YES! Those who know, know! Hahahaha!
So back to my story. I lined up to get a tall iced latte and decided to use the cash from the cash sales since I had no other cash on hand and my phone was low batt so it wasn’t a good idea to pay using my phone or transfer funds so that I could use any of my ATMs. Anyway, long story short, that specific bill I used to pay turned out to be a counterfeit bill.
I can’t describe the emotions I felt at that point in time realising I’ve just been fooled. All I could think of was how cruel for someone to take advantage of a small business barely trying to make it. I’m not saying its okay to do it to big businesses either. I’m just saying that when you do it to a small business, can you imagine the impact of PHP1000 is on them versus a company who has better resources, protection (insurance), and controls against such risks? It hits hard. And then all you think about is WHY. Hay.
I was trying really hard to make the most of that moment to enjoy the quick coffee sesh. I was so lucky I had my friend with me as I went thru that. We were able to cover so much ground on so many different topics that it helped me get my bearings back again to face the rest of the day. And then eventually time was up and we had to part ways since I had to go back to my errands and duties.
I’m back here at our kiosk at SM City Santa Rosa hoping to be a better and wiser entrepreneur. Our friend at Scriptures Moves Life has been so kind as to lend us the machine that can help us check the bills we receive. I remind myself that this was just one of the many setbacks this week and in the weeks to come. We need to learn from it and be better.
Honestly, I’m not so sure how our kiosk is really faring as a business but so far, its been a journey of learning for us. I hope that business-wise it does get better.
Have a great Saturday, everyone! 🙂
