We are good at meditating. Whatever it is that’s on repeat in our minds, that’s what we’re meditating on. Most of the time, it’s our worries. Having limited control over things, we tend to think about the worst situations and dwell on that until worry becomes crippling fear and anxiety. It’s a human experience.
This is why God often reminds us of His word “Do not fear, I am with you.” He knows we have a lot of reasons to be fearful, He knows not knowing what lies ahead of us can be daunting and scary, and He knows that we will worry about that– that’s why there’s a constant reminder that He is with us.
He did not just say “Do not fear” because the reality is that we will feel that way at some point– He gave us a reason not to be afraid– He is with us. God gives us courage and comfort with His presence. Worry makes you feel isolated and alone, praying will remind you that you’re not and your help comes from Him.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
