Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang

This third book completes the series that brings together selected stories in Filipino by the celebrated author, Severino Reyes.

INTRAMUROS:
THE WALLED CITY
Cut-and-Build Your Own Model Fort

The history of Intramuros, the old city of Manila, comes alive for young people in this ground-breaking book. INTRAMUROS: The Walled City is a paper cut-out model designed to be taken apart and assembled piece by piece by the whole family or by students in the classroom alone or as a group. Given the city’s 400-year history, creator Adrian Panadero chose to focus his book on the Intramuros of the 1800s, a time when Filipinos were awakening to a period of enlightenment after centuries of colonial rule.
Make you own miniature Intramuros while you learn about its story. Build its heart, the Plaza Mayor, and its historic fortress, Fort Santiago. Peer inside its houses and government buildings, imagine the people who walked its cobblestone streets, and learn hands-on the amazing story behind its walls.

Winner, 2nd National Children’s Book Award
Recognized as one of the Best Reads of 2010-2011

A boy’s night of mischief is told in 65 simple Filipino verbs and everyday dialogue, perfect for toddlers. For an inside peek, follow this link.
Using only 65 choice words to tell the story of Botbot, a young boy whose spiritedness gets him “ay naku” from his frustrated parents. BotBot is such an exuberant child that he tends to put his shirts inside out and cause commotions around the house. In spite of all the ruckus, Mom and Dad’s “ay naku” turns into a loving expression at the end of the day and Botbot is assured of his family’s love. Sergio Bumatay III’s illustrations show fondness for our little hero, and reveal his gifts as a storyteller. This is a dear book that should be on the shelf of every emerging reader who appreciates an exciting, endearing tale. It is also a wonderful book for teaching Filipino words in a fresh, creative way.

Get to know Kalimba

Kalimba is an African musical instrument consisting of a wooden board (often collated with a resonator) with attached staggered metal tines, played by holding the instrument in the hands and plucking the tines with the thumbs. Just play with two thumbs can make a wonderful sound. It is said that the music played by this instrument is not only able to rid the patient of evil, but also play a role in praying for rain, it is one of the most popular instruments.

It is tuned and tested well before shipment. It adopts international standard C tone, and use double-screw keys to strengthen the stability, furthermore solid wood body for it which makes resonance more sufficient. The timbre seems warm, and sound lasts long. Moreover, if you are still not satisfied with the tone, you can tune it by yourself.

How to tune your kalimba
1. Tuner:
You can use a real tuner or download an App.
