Set-free SUNDAY
14 Feb, 10am-12pm (SGT)
From shophouse to longhouse,
hosted by Gerard Seow
Make room for God to build His house in ever-increasing measure. The breaking down of party walls, unlocking the connecting door that separates and learning to flow together in miracle oneness.
Years ago, I had a vision of Geylang. “Go to where the durian are” is what I had heard from the angel. And when we got here, I heard the angel again: “Tell Me what you want and I will build it”. (This turned out to be the exact words of our landlady just before renovating the sanctuary). Phase by phase, stage by stage, and after 45k SGD, the words of the angel (and our landlady) proved faithful and true.
This past year in cloister has prepared us for what is now “at hand” (ἐγγίζω) for us to draw closer to what God had in mind all along. Miracle Monday. Thankful Tuesday. Wisdom Wednesday. Talk-about Thursday. Fill-me up Friday. Set-apart Saturday. Set-free Sunday. Everyday Jesus.
Sometimes when a person draws too close, you feel your personal space encroached and you are tempted to take a step back. When God draws close to you you may be tempted to step back and move away when in fact, you should drawn even closer to see what God has wrought: “put your finger, and see my hands; and reach here your hand, and put it into my side...” (John 20:27).

So what hath God wrought over the past months during this contagion? I sense that neighbours are making room for God to build His house in ever-increasing measure, that we’re knocking down party walls unlocking connecting doors that were formerly keeping each other apart and that we’re more in the will of God than ever before.
What had been previously locked will now be unlocked. The interior passages that were not previously accessible until now will be made accessible. The party doors had always been there (default architectural feature), but there was no way of getting from one room to the next without first each one of us making a move to open up. And this is exactly what I am sensing in this fresh and new season of openness and vulnerability.
As of March 1, we will be opening our 3rd floor chapel to YWAM’s School of Biblical Studies So glad to have the voice of young people again in the dining room with the study lights on again. Of course their leader, missiologists Jerry Brownell, who has been based in Sg for the past 30 years, will take all precautions required to ensure the safety and health of the student body, safe distancing, hand washing, disinfection, etc
We had already been in fellowship with the E7k base camp since last August hosting their Geylang 456 on Sat mornings and many others visiting us here for private chat or small group worship or discussion. These are leaders of 10’s and leaders of 50’s and leaders of 100’s with a clear and historical footprint here in the Kallang-Geylang-Aljunied area.
What word am I sensing? for the next chapter in kingdom ministry and collaboration: “Be not forgetful in showing hospitality for some have entertained angels unawares” (Heb 13:2)
What is happening now? These leaders of 10’s, and the leaders of 50’s and the leaders of 100’s are coming together, to ask what the right questions are, to engage in dialogue, to investigate the pivot and work out the details. These are those in the past season who have qualified themselves to lead us into the next.
God’s method of succession is not ours. He will call forth an enemy at the border, as in the days of Gideon, and qualify the next echelon by testing to see if they have what it takes to face the music and take the heat. Like the 3 that faced the ultimate test in the land of Babylon who met God face to face in the fiery furnace of decision, revelation and deliverance. Not one of their hairs were singed not even an article of clothing was scorched in the fire.
May you find Jesus the fourth man present when the fire of adversity is heated 7 times hotter, and the delays seem 7 times longer than expected. This crisis is meant to bless you not to harm you. And you are happily more in the will of God this new year than ever before.
“Like fire, God is neither tame nor restrained—and the bright warmth that attracts us can illuminate the darkness around us as well as incinerate the darkness within us. When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego exited the furnace, the king and officials were astonished to find that nothing had been burned by the fire, not even their hair or clothes (Dan. 3:27). The one exception? Only that which bound them succumbed to the flames” - Charles Stanley.
