New Life In Christ
BY RICK WARREN “Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17 CEV)

Can a butterfly go back into a cocoon after it’s come out as a caterpillar? Of course not. It can’t happen. Once the caterpillar becomes a butterfly, it is what it is — a butterfly.

When you become a believer, you’re like that butterfly — you come out of your cocoon. It may take you some time to fly spiritually, but once you become a new creation in Christ, you are what you are. You are a new creation.

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new” (CEV). So what does it mean to become a new creation in Christ? The moment you believe in Christ, there’s a spiritual metamorphosis — everything changes! This is a matter of faith and not sight.

The greatest step of faith we can take in our lives is to believe what God says about who Jesus is and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

I believe the second greatest step you can take is to believe what God says about who you are. You are a new creation in Christ! The Bible says in Romans 6:14, “Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace” (NLT). A true life, a better life, a wonderful life is only found in Christ. When you become a Christian, you have a new life in him.

If anyone is in Christ they are a new creation; old things are passing away; all things are becoming new.

How does a person grow up spiritually? How do you become a mature follower of Christ?

Think about how your spiritual life began. This season is a good time to remember that the reason God wants us to love is because he is love, and he created us to be like him — to love. The only reason we’re able to love is because God loves us: “Love comes from God … because God is love” (1 John 4:7-8 NIV). We were created in God’s image to do two things on Earth: Learn to love God and learn to love other people. Life is all about love.

But love all started with God. He loved us first, and that gives us the ability to love others (1 John 4:19). The only reason you can love God or love anybody else is because God first loved you. And he showed that love by sending Jesus Christ to Earth to die for you. He showed that love by creating you. He showed that love by everything you have in life; it’s all a gift of God’s love.

In order to love others and to become great lovers, we first need to understand and feel how much God loves us. We don’t want to just talk about love, read about love, or discuss love; our need is to experience the love of God.

We need to reach a day when we finally, fully understand how God loves us completely and unconditionally. We need to become secure in the truth that we cannot make God stop loving us.

Once we’re secure inside God’s unconditional love, we’ll start cutting people a lot of slack. We won’t be as angry as we’ve been. We’ll be more patient. We’ll be more forgiving. We’ll be more merciful. We’ll give others grace.

But you cannot give to others what you have not received yourself, and so my hope is that, as you learn how much God loves you, you’ll also let him heal your heart so that his love can flow freely through you. (Press to read more ...)

Sometimes we come to life's crossroads and we think it's the end. But GOD has a much wider vision and He knows that it's only a BEND.
The road will go on and get smoother and after we've stopped for a rest, the path that lies hidden beyond us is often the path that is best.

Did you know that you’re God’s masterpiece in the making? God didn’t save you just so He could take you to heaven. He has created you for so much more. He created you spiritually and physically different than anyone else because He has a specific and unique purpose for your life.
For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.(Ephesians 2:10)

God has a calling for you to accomplish the "good works" that He prepared for you to do that no one else could do. In fact, God has an assignment for you on earth with only your name on it!

But in order to accomplish those works and fulfill His purpose and goal for our life, first we need to know who we are in Christ. When we receive Christ into our lives, the Bible says we become a "new creation" and we have a new identity in Christ. We receive a spiritual inheritance as God’s adopted sons or daughters, and we are fully loved and accepted by God. There is nothing we can do to earn this. It’s solely by His grace that we are saved.
And as God’s children, we are expected to walk in a manner worthy of our calling that we’ve received, completely humble and gentle; being patient, bearing with one another in love. (Eph. 4:1-2) “We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10 NLT) The reason you have value is because of what God says about you, not because of what other people say about you.
If God wanted you to be somebody else, you wouldn’t exist. But he wanted you! He made you to be you. Real self-esteem comes from three facts:

God created you.
Jesus died for you.
God’s Spirit lives in you. The Bible says, “We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:10 NLT). God says, “You’re my poem. You’re my masterpiece. I don’t want you copying somebody else. I’ve put gifts in you — heart, abilities, personality, and experiences — and I want you to use them.” You have worth because of what God says about you and has done for you.
