Sweet Treats in this Candy Filled Street!

CANDY FOR A CAUSE: SUCCESS

We, the iCandy Boulevard crew, came through with our plan of giving away free food to our fellow Filipinos in need. The long walk along the streets of McArthur Highway was surely worth it when we saw the happiness in their eyes.

In addition to helping people outside of the campus, the iCandy Boulevard team, along with Pika-Pika Choose and Fingrrr’s Directors, Raiven Abdala and Cheska Estrada, also distributed food for CEIS guards, construction workers, and even Grab Riders, in commemoration of the Labor Day last Monday.

For transparency purposes: In this project, there were 31 recipients of iCandy Boulevard’s Candy for a Cause, wherein we’ve given away 6 rice meals bought from Lioming’s Rice Noodles Corner with 5 bottles of water, 8 Pancit cantons with an egg from Pika-Pika Choose, 8 Mojos with Garlic Mayo from Fingrrr, and 7 more bottles of water.

iCandy Boulevard appreciates each and every one of you who supported our small business!

CANDY FOR A CAUSE 🍭💌

In hopes of integrating our humanities focused education in this activity, iCandy Boulevard along with Pika-Pika Choose and Fingrrr will work together to give back to the community by holding an event where we give food to people who are in need but also to CEIS staffs.

We hope to use our platform as a means to be of service to others as we believe that Business Enterprise Week is not merely done to gain profit but rather to encourage learning, to foster growth in one's character, and to use one's platform for a purpose.

Together, let us help each other for the greater good!

Appreciation Post to Vendors:

Nakakapagod, nakakahingal, nakakahilo, at nakakasakit ng ulo—pero hindi pwede magreklamo dahil may quota na kailangan maabot, may alkansyang dapat mapuno, at may mga sikmurang kailangan mabusog. Kahit anong uri ng business, malaki man o maliit, paglalako o sari-sari store, online selling o physical selling, lahat nakakapagod. Pero ang pagod at sakripisyo ng mga vendors na ito ay tunay na mararamdaman at maiintindihan lamang kapag ikaw na mismo ang nakaranas.

Ako, personally, ‘yung experience ko as a peddler, it was fun. Pero hindi ibig sabihin noon, naging madali. Syempre, may times na nakakahiya na dahil baka nakakainis na pala ako sa mata nila kasi balik ako nang balik. May times na nakakapagod na sumigaw kasi hindi ka naman nila pinapansin. May times na nakakapagod na rin magbuhat ng cart o kaya maglakad-lakad sa kung saan-saan dahil isang maghapon din 'yun. Pumupunta ako, kami, sa canteen ng college, at nagru-room-to-room upang may maibenta kahit kaunti… kahit ilang kendi lang ang maibenta eh ayos na.

At kung ako nga na naglako lang nang ilang araw ay naka-experience ng hirap, paano pa kaya ang ating mga kababayang maglalako at sari-sari store owners? Sila, na ginagawa ito bilang hanapbuhay at hindi isang requirement para makapasa sa isang subject. Sila, na hindi maaaring sumuko sa laban ng buhay. Hindi kaya dapat natin lalo silang pansinin at suportahan?

Madaling hindi pansinin, lalo na kung sa kalye mo sila makikita. Pero, sa kaunting barya, para sa kanila, malaking tulong na.
