The new kids on the block for Seiko’s Seiko 5 line caused quite a stir when they were first
released. From the debatable successor of the ever-popular Seiko SKX diver’s watch line – the “5KX”, to
the fixed bezeled “Dress-KX”, Seiko has been churning out watches left and right. This blacked out
example of the “Dress-KX” is certainly a great example. With a black PVD coated case, matte black dial
and chapter ring, matching black date wheel, going even as far as – you guessed it! – a blacked out
lumed indices and hands, this is a tactical maniac’s dream watch in the flesh. Beyond its “tacti-cool”
aesthetics however, we are greeted with a very understated watch from a far with a strikingly cool look
when inspected up close. Though predominantly black almost all throughout, the subtle sheen of the
coating around the indices and on the beveled portions of the case and bezel makes this SRPE69
anything but boring. Take note of the elegantly finished case, unlike the matte black coatings of polymer
guns like Glocks (which will undeniably be a great pair for this watch on range day), this black finish
seems to have permeated through the stainless-steel case as opposed to being powder coated on. How
on earth Seiko pulled off the polished radials on the bezel though slight and almost unnoticeable, and
the polished sides of the lugs and bezel without removing the PVD finish is beyond my level of
understanding. Nevertheless, with whatever type of wizardry Seiko used, they managed to churn out an
equally understated and bad-a$$ looking timepiece!

Sick and tired of boring cookie cutter watches that have little to no character with dreadfully
monochromatic color schemes? Then perhaps we should look back at the neon lit 60’s and 70’s for
inspiration. Before you is the vibrant and unique Seiko SNKL61. Showcasing a bright sunburst azure dial
accentuated with lemon yellow arabic minutes lacing the lumed baton indices. Tying it all off with a
matching lemon yellow arrow shaped seconds hand and flowing case geometry finished in high polish
and brushed on top of the sculpted lugs, tapering off unto a three-link integrated bracelet, this will surely stand out well beyond its diminutive size by today’s standards. Being a 36mm darling however, as
oppose to the equally colorful but obtrusively gaudy 45mm Fashion watches that hide their poor quality
with blinding colors, the SNKL615 pulls off the eye-catching timepiece look with grace and style. With a
quality workhorse movement showcased in the display case back, this little charmer will be a sure fit for
the brave, the bold, and the fun loving individual.

In a world now so entranced by minimalist design, cute pastel colors, and plain cement finished cafes, Yellow gold may seem out of place in 2021. Undeniable in its association with, the “Sopranos”, and the cinematic spectacle: “The wolf of wall street”, and the American psycho; yellow gold may seem
brash, gaudy – a product of a bygone era fitting only to be on grandpa’s wrists.

Notorious for its
association with the overly ambitious pretentious, and conniving, a solid gold piece of timekeeping instrument in one’s wrist may seem too much in our day and age. But beyond the bling, the poor associations, and the probability of an in-your-face declaration to the whole world that you are wearing
a watch – yellow gold gives off a different type of sheen and warmth that the all-too-common stainless steel finished timepieces can never replicate. Paired with the right outfit, and hungry mind set, yellow gold can exude confidence, maturity, and strength of character – case and point: the movies
abovementioned.

Before you today lie the elegant golden iteration of the famous Seiko SNKL case. The Seiko SNKL50. With brushed and polished case design coupled with a warm gold PVD finish and an equally iny oyster styled golden bracelet. With elegant dauphine hands and a deep dark sunburst slate gray dial and simple markers, this tried-and-true case shape adds more wrist presence and feel to an already
stellar watch design. With its 18mm lugs and 42mm lug to lug length, the SNKL50 wears great on the wrist. Despite the attention-grabbing hue of a solid gold watch, the understated dark slate gray dial akin to that of the SNKL45 and matching blacked-out date wheel balances out the watch quite well. Add
a dark colored leather wrist band and EUREKA! You have an elegant gold-plated timepiece that will turn heads while you trot your way around town. And did we mention that gold looks better on warm toned
skin complexion? Therefore, if you are sick and tired of the oversaturation of bland colors all around, grab some courage and a dash of bling, grab yourself a Seiko SNKL50.
