SOLD —— The Tribune, 1943-1944 || Lot of Wartime Issues on the Philippines during the Japanese Occupation
by Taliba, La Vanguardia, Tribune Corporation (c.1925-1942?)
Manila: The Tribune, c. 1943-1944
A lot of nine original early to mid-twentieth-century newspaper issues of the Philippine wartime publication, The Tribune. The Tribune had turned into a tool of Japanese propaganda in the last three years of the Japanese Occupation. The Japanese used the Manila newspaper to spread fake news. It severed ties with foreign media outlets and controlled the transmission and dissemination of all information. Despite Japanese control over the Tribune, many Filipinos were able to see beyond the propaganda and discern the truth during the Japanese Occupation.
VERY RARE. An assorted lot of newspapers printed with a brass typesetter. Well-preserved and in seldom good condition.
SOLD at ₱1,500.00 for the lot.
