Katilingban Sang Pumuluyo Nga Naga-Atipan sa Watershed Sang Maasin, Incorporated is a community-based group of artisans from Maasin, Iloilo, dedicated to creating handcrafted products that are both sustainable and rooted in local tradition. Using bamboo—an abundant indigenous material in their area—the group produces bags, baskets, notebooks, and other functional items that reflect creativity, skill, and environmental responsibility.

Their focus on bamboo was born out of necessity and innovation. With plastic banned in their municipality, the group looked for alternative, eco-friendly resources and turned to bamboo, which thrives in their locality. Through ingenuity and craftsmanship, they transformed this natural material into products that support both their livelihoods and their advocacy for environmental protection, particularly the care of their watershed.

With the support of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the association has remained steadfast in sustaining their work, providing income opportunities for community members and strengthening local enterprise. Fred Alisa recalls the group’s struggles during the pandemic, when travel restrictions limited their ability to sell products outside their area. Despite these challenges, the artisans persevered.

Today, the group celebrates new opportunities to reach wider audiences, including showcasing their work at events such as the National Arts and Crafts Fair (NACF). Each purchase not only supports local craftsmanship but also contributes to environmental stewardship and community resilience.

The 2025 National Arts and Crafts Fair (NACF) opens its doors from October 23 to 29 at the Megatrade Halls, SM Megamall, celebrating the brilliance of Filipino creativity and craftsmanship.

From 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily, with free admission for all, the NACF brings together over 200 curated exhibitors from across the country-showcasing heritage textiles, artisanal goods, contemporary design, and cultural innovation that reflect the artistry and ingenuity of our local communities.

Proudly organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), with the support of the Office of Senator Loren Legarda, and in collaboration with the Design Center of the Philippines (DCP) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
