The Montessori quote "Never help a child with a task where he is already successful" is important to remember when we are helping children. True help always comes from a good place, and when we provide unnecessary help, we are creating dependence. We are sending the message that the child will not learn if we do things for them, and without the opportunity to practice and make mistakes, their coordination cannot develop. Learning is a coordination of mistakes and practice, and when we prevent the practice, we are an Obstacle to Development.

There is no more important activity for preparing your child to succeed as a reader than reading aloud together. Fill your story times with a variety of books. Be consistent, be patient, and watch the magic work.

Research shows that during early childhood, the links within the brain are forming that enable children to learn and organise their thoughts. To be successful, teaching is most successful when the child can use their individual interests as a "hanger" to put the new knowledge onto. This happens in play, as the child chooses what they would like to play with and the adult can support them by challenging them to think at the next level.

In-Person Learning Suits Different Learning Styles
Every child has a different learning style, which can be divided into 4 categories: visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinetic. Online learning presents challenges for kinetic learners, who may be distracted by seeing their peers' faces on screen.
