It all started from scrap. Buttons, bows, flowerettes, discarded dress pins, rhinestone jewelry… pretty things usually thrown away… these coupled with the creative talent of Vera Isberto, Lalafca’s founder, are what make up the unique gift boxes that are our core product line. Toying with some packaging cartons during the holiday season some years back, Vera E. Isberto, a fine arts graduate of the

University of Santo Tomas (UST) put together little heart boxes cut out from scrap to sell for Valentine’s Day at her small corner at Gift Gate in Makati City. Rummaging in her scrap heap, she found lots of nice things that found a perfect place in the boxes. It made such a strong impression that soon orders came in for bigger boxes to contain stuffed toys, kitchen accessories and clothes. Not satisfied with classic shapes, she developed amusing animal shapes like elephants, doggies, frogs, bunnies, parrots and pigs all dyed in brilliant colors. Boxes shaped like handbags, oval boxes for ci******es or small perfume bottles were developed with paper-mix textures to match any personality of the recipient. The beauty of these boxes are that you never throw them away, you recycle them, they are therefore environment friendly and biodegradable. Any gift, simple as it may be, become interestingly witty and stylish in Lalafca’s patented gift boxes. Indeed, with our boxes, you just might end up losing the gift and keeping the box! This is, in essence, what Lalafca is all about.
