"He is risen" signifies that Jesus has overcome death and conquered the grave, offering believers the hope of eternal life.

Jesus died on the cross for you and for me. May we remember that we are loved and blessed by our God.

Why is it called Maundy Thursday?

Maundy Thursday is called that because the word "maundy" comes from the Latin word "mandatum," meaning "command" or "instruction."

It refers to Jesus' command at the Last Supper to "Love one another as I have loved you," as recorded in John 13:34. This verse is a key teaching from Jesus, highlighting that love for others is the defining characteristic of a Christian's life and a way for the world to recognize them as followers of Christ.

This Thursday commemorates the Last Supper and the washing of the feet of the disciples, also known as the "Maundy," further reinforcing the commandment of love and service.
