Ang naturang appointment ay nilagdaan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Umaasa ang pamahalaan na magdadala siya ng mas mahigpit at organisadong pamamahala sa Metro Manila.

Political analyst, academic and podcaster Richard Heydarian says Senator Bam Aquino potentially winning the presidency could augur well for the Philippines if he decides to gun for the top post in 2028.

“A BAM AQUINO presidency in 2028 could mean, for the first time, a YOUNG technocratic and clean government of truly the very “BEST & BRIGHTEST” in the Philippines!” says Heydarian in a tweet on his X account on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

He adds he can even imagine Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto joining Aquino’s Cabinet.

Sotto’s term as local chief executive is set to end come 2028.

In the event that Aquino opts to join the presidential race, he may go head-to-head against possible contender Vice President Sara Duterte.

But he has a lot of catching up to do if intends to beat the perennial frontrunner in most surveys.

In WR Numero Research’s November 2025 survey, Duterte clinched the number one spot with 33.3%.
