Protect your kids and the whole family from dengue-carrying mosquitoes especially this rainy season and in the midst of a dengue outbreak in Iloilo, mga kasimanwa. ๐ฆโ
Our mosquito repellant spray is made of essential oils which were extracted from different kinds of plants known for shooing away pesky insects like mosquitoes (how awesome is nature, noh?). It does not contain any deet which is commonly used in commercially available insect repellant lotions and sprays. ๐๐ป๐ฟ๐๐
Some notes about deet:
โข โDeet (known to chemists as N,N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide) is a yellowish liquid that, when applied to skin or clothing, repels a number of biting insects, including mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas. The chemical was created by USDA chemists in the 1940s for use by the U.S. military. It has been commercially available since 1957 and has since become commonplace.โ
โข We are not saying that deet is generally harmful but careful application must be considered.
โChoose a repellent with no more than 10% to 30% concentration of DEET (look for N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide on the label). Use lower concentrations if kids will be outside only for an hour or two. If they're outside longer, consider using a repellent with a higher concentration of DEET. (The higher concentration means that it will last longer.)โ
โข It is also a persistent environmental contaminant that breaks down slowly in soil according to a report by US Geological Survey on water contaminants.
โข โDEET containing repellent should not be applied more than once a day, and is not recommended for babies younger than 2 years old.โ
โข โDo not apply repellent to kids' hands โ that way, they can't ingest it if they put their hands in their mouth. It also can cause irritation if they touch their eyes.โ
โข Apply it in an open area so your kid would not breathe it in.
