Be ONE of my LIVER HERO!
Hi everyone! I am your liver warrior, my name is Liam Ezekiel R. Garcia, you can call me "Liam". I am 4 months old and fighting a rare life threatening disease of the liver and bile ducts, called BILIARY ATRESIA and needs to undergo immediate LIVER TRANSPLANT in INDIA where specialists are more experienced and procedure is more affordable. It is a condition in infants in which the bile ducts outside and inside the liver are scarred and blocked. Symptoms of the disease are yellowing of the skin and white of the eyes (jaundice), abnormally pale stools, and dark urine which I'm continuously experiencing.
As of now there is no cure for the disease, but a treatment called KASAI procedure for patients under 3 months old can somehow help the patient to slower the liver damage and delay or prevent complications and the need for a liver transplant.
Unfortunately, after several lab test, ultrasound, and biopsy we discovered that I'm no longer candidate for KASAI aside from my age when I was diagnosed with biliary atresia but also because of the fibrosis seen on my liver. My doctor advised me to undergo liver transplant in India as soon as possible so that I can have a chance to live a normal life.
Hearing that was one of the most painful heartbreaking news that my family heard. But despite of the problems that we're in right now, my parents truly TRUSTS and BELIEVES in God's plan for us. That with God all things are possible. That there's always a reason why He entrust me to my parents.
Please help us pray for my healing and miracles.
We're just starting and this fight is not easy as we need to undergo several lab test and work ups to make sure that I am prepared for the transplant and to make sure that the liver of my donor (my Mommy or my Papa since we're all blood type A+) is fit for me.
