The Pokémon franchise celebrates its anniversary today, marking 30 years since the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan in 1996.
What began as video games, later expanding into an animated series and trading cards, has since grown into films, retail stores, and hit mobile games. Three decades on, the franchise continues to “catch ’em all,” becoming a worldwide favorite.
