Gold & Silver: Real Rebound or Just a "Dead Cat Bounce"?

A "dead cat bounce" is a fake comeback. It's a short-lived rise during a longer fall—like a bounce after a drop—before the price goes down again.

Spotting a Fake Rally:

Short: Lasts days or weeks, not months.

Weak: Happens with low buying interest.

Why? Caused by traders closing bets or people mistakenly buying a dip.

Result: Prices fall to new lows afterward.

Fake Bounce vs. Real Reversal
A real reversal means the downtrend is over and a new uptrend begins. A dead cat bounce is just a brief pause in the fall. It’s a trap.

Example:
A stock drops, then briefly jumps 10% in a week (the bounce), only to crash 20% the next month. That bounce was fake.

The Catch:
It’s almost impossible to be sure it's a dead cat bounce while it's happening. You usually know for sure only after prices fall to new lows.

Silver prices hit a record high of around $95.20 per ounce today

Why?

Rising tensions between the US and Europe made investors seek safe-haven assets like precious metals.

Former President Trump threatened new tariffs on eight European countries and renewed interest in buying Greenland. Europe is considering how to respond, including possibly using its large holdings of US investments.

Silver is seen as critical for green energy and electronics, and recent US decisions not to tax it have added to market moves.

In short: Geopolitical worry + silver's importance in tech = record prices.

Silver is spiking because there's not enough to go around.

China is cutting back. Starting in 2026, China (which supplies most of the world's silver) will make it much harder to export. Less silver will leave the country.

We're using more than we find. For 5 years straight, the world has used more silver than miners and recyclers can provide. That gap is getting bigger.

Stockpiles are almost empty. The big vaults and warehouses that hold silver are running very low—some are down over 70%. What's left is selling for a big premium.

Industrial need is huge. Silver is critical for solar panels, EVs, and electronics. This constant industrial demand eats up supply.

Paper promises vs. real bars. The market has hundreds of paper claims for every single real ounce of silver. If people start asking for the real thing, the system can't deliver.

Bottom line: This isn't just a speculation bubble. There is a real, physical shortage of silver right now, and it’s pushing prices up.
