LifeVac: Choking rescue device, again open for pre-order!

A child dies from choking every 5 days in the US alone. Extremes of age, where coordination is poorly developed, are also at an increased risk for choking. During these incidents, time is of the essence as brain damage will occur within 5 minutes of a complete airway obstruction and death can occur within 7 minutes.

So, WHAT TO DO IN CHOKING EMERGENCIES/

Step 1: DO NOT PANIC. Assess. Call for help and dial 911.

Step 2: If warranted, initiate proper choking rescue protocols. The Americal Heart Association recommends 5 back blows alternating with 5 abdominal thrusts.

Step 3: If unsuccessful, CPR is suggested until help arrives.

What if the patient is still not responsive to these rescue protocols and the ambulance hasn’t arrived yet?
